Meet Our Studio Pets
Zoey
10/26/2004 |
|
|
This is the newest addition to our family. Zoey is a tiny Yorkshire Terrier that we adopted when she was 9 months old. She had an extremely sheltered and isolated life kept in a cage by her previous owners, so she's very shy, but she's adjusting well. She also had several health issues that have since been resolved. Now she loves running in the grass, chasing squirrels, going in the car and playing with her toys...getting a chance to be a normal dog. Zoey is full grown at just 4 lbs. and has a great disposition.

In Memory of Sasha
4/1/1989 - 1/4/2006 |
|
|
We are mourning the loss of our shaded silver persian "Sasha" who unexpectedly passed away. She was so fascinated by quilts that I believe she must have been a quilter in a previous life! She wanted to be part of every quilt I made, sitting at the sewing machine or intently watching me hand quilt. It is especially difficult as I work in my studio to adjust to her absence. We have wonderful memories of this sweet cat that we will cherish always. Below are some readings about pet loss that we recently found comforting when we lost our yorkie "Kelly" in May 2005.

In Memory of Kelly
3/29/1991 - 5/12/2005 |
|
It is with great sadness that I have to write that our beloved Yorkshire Terrier Kelly passed away on May 12th. She leaves behind a huge void in our lives, but we are comforted by the knowledge that we did our best to give her a happy and comfortable life as she lived with several illnesses including epilepsy.
For those who have recently lost a special pet, I hope you find healing in the readings below as we have. |
We who choose to surround
ourselves with lives even more
temporary than our own
live within a fragile circle,
easily and often breached.
Unable to accept its awful gaps,
we still would live no other way.
We cherish memory as the
only certain immortality,
never fully understanding
the necessary plan...
"The Once Again Prince" Irving Townsend
A Prayer for Animals
Hear our humble prayer, O God, for
our friends the animals, especially for
animals who are suffering, for any that
are hunted, or lost, or deserted, or
frightened, or hungry, for all that must
be put to sleep. We entreat for them all
Thy mercy and pity, and for those who
deal with them we ask a heart of compassion
and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us, ourselves, to be
true friends to animals and so share the
blessings of the merciful.
Albert Schweitzer
"You think dogs will not be in heaven?
I tell you, they will be there long before any of us."

Customers often email me to ask about the beautiful dog pictured on our Jazzy Border - Photo Frame quilt pattern. This is Dakota, an Australian Shepherd we took in when she was found severely abused by her previous owners. She was able to fully recover from her injuries and has since gone on to a permanent home with 2 other Australian Shepherds to play with. Our pets were too small, Dakota kept trying to herd them as was part of her instinctive nature. This beautiful, loving dog with her amazing spirit will always have a special place in our hearts even though she was only with us for two short years. |
