Year Completed: 2010
Size: 70"w x 30"h
Description: Upcycled a table top in our laundry room using all kinds of ceramic tesserae; mostly china and glass gems. Not sure we should have started on such a large scale for our first mosaic project but I do like how it turned out. It probably would have been easier for the contractor installing the cabinets to scrap the table top and start fresh but I'm glad we were able to reuse it. All the wood and handles from old cabinets were donated to Habitat for Humanity Resale Store.
Estimated over 2,400 pieces in the table top. Took about 60 hours. Grouted by Gene Seliger. Photo above taken before grouting.
